Welcome to the Den!

Hi friends! I’m Julia, a creative baker, crafter, and DIYer in Richmond, Virginia. I believe magic is generated when you make with your own hands. The personal touches create warmth within our homes and in our relationships. I strive to build lasting food memories, a cozy home, and, hopefully, encourage or inspire more handmade creations.

I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, by my great-grandmother, who truly instilled my passion for homemaking. She taught me to cook, sew, bake, and fix just about anything. But, most importantly, she encouraged me. She always reminded me, “if you want to do something enough, you can learn how to do anything.”

Hey guys, my name is Purrl. I’m named after great-grandma Berneice Pearl (last name), the purl stitch, and of course, because I purr so much. I am the littlest ocelot a Bengal Cat.

I am curious, playful, energetic, and extremely talkative. I look forward to promptly eating dinner at 7:00 each night. I am a skilled jumper (you should see my parkour). I love drinking from the faucet and splashing in the bathtub. I am passionate about flossing my teeth.

When I’m tired and want to conserve energy, I snuggle up and purr for hours. I have beautiful spots and stripes, and I know if I am just a little bit good, I can get away with destroying the toilet paper and Amazon boxes.
